Don’t Get Carved Like a Thanksgiving Turkey

Strength in Numbers #72

ArmCare.com was born in 2020 and we have now grown to over 10,000 users.  As a sports scientist heavily entrenched in injury protection research, 1500 of those athletes should require surgery.

But, among the ArmCare users, we’ve only had one surgical case.

And that one athlete missed many testing points and overlooked critical observations that would have revealed weaknesses and imbalances.

I was confident before, but with this amount of data, I am now certain that ArmCare.com is the way to eradicate arm injuries and dominate throwing performance.

Here are six essential arm diagnostics that are paving the way for a better way to develop high-performance throwers.

1. Do not enter a high-intensity weighted ball program if you have a Strength-Velocity Ratio less than 1.6 LBS/MPH. Your arm will not handle the load appropriately, as every increase in velocity comes with an increase in throwing arm loading on the shoulder and elbow.

2. If you have an imbalanced shoulder as per our ER/IR ratio (external rotator- to-internal rotation), it needs to be corrected and as close as possible to 1:1 between your accelerators and decelerators.

3. If your throwing arm strength is less than 70% of your body weight, get to work as your risk of injury will only increase as your body gets bigger.

4. If you have lost more than 5 lbs of strength from Fresh Test to Fresh Test, take a serious look at your workload, sleep, nutrition and hydration—you are not bouncing back.

5. If you find your arm fatiguing more than 10% from your Fresh Test, you need to have a conversation about pitch count management and map out an adjustment to your throwing program—you are overworking and on your way to an overuse injury.

6. If you are not doing a pre-throwing primer test you’re missing out.  Not only are you exposing yourself to risk because you are not getting your strength snapshot before practice, but you’re missing a jump-start on priming the arm for maximum power from the max effort isometric contraction.

It doesn’t matter if you are a pitcher, a shortstop, or a backup catcher, your arm is essential, and you have to prioritize it.

ArmCare is now trusted by teams and athletes in the NCAA, NJCAA, NAIA, MLB, and across the nation at the travel ball level. If you’re still waiting to adopt ArmCare into your training, it’s now time to take the Bulletproof Arm Guarantee.

We guarantee greater velocities and that your arm will stay surgery free or your money back.
